Dell inspiron 6000 - laptop screen goes blank

I have a dell inspiron 6000. Occasionally when starting the computer, the CPU works, but the monitor remains blank unless I less I keep tapping near the mouse pad. It then comes on. Any explanations/ solutions? It is very annoying

A lot of Dell Inspiron computers have this problem; it is your video card chip that is located under or near the touchpad of your computer...

Depending on the design of your computer... you have to send it away to get it fixed or analised / quoted on the work and parts required...
